"WHY DO I HAVE A COMP BALANCE?"
The 10 hours (or pro-rated portion for part-time employees) of furlough leave granted by Governor Perdue to employees whose salaries were reduced in May and/or June have been added to leave balances. When viewing leave balances in TimeKeeper Inquiries, your furlough leave hours will be included in the COMP balance. This is the only available bucket in which to display these hours. If you are an exempt employee and do not earn comp time, the entire balance will be furlough time in days (1.33 days = 7.5 hours per day x 1.33 days = 10 hours; 1.25 days = 8 hours per day x 1.25 = 10 hours; for part-time employees - .86 day = 8 hours per day x .86 day = 6.88 hours). If you earn comp time, your furlough hours and comp time are combined in the comp balance. We will be sending reports monthly to school payroll secretaries and principals showing how much furlough time has been used. All furlough hours must be used by December 31, 2009. Your 12/31/09 check should show a zero balance, thus all furlough used should be given to your payroll secretary before 12/11/09.
